Next ASTN Open Forum to be held in Adelaide

The next ASTN Open Forum will be held on 1st October 2008 alongside the ASA Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide. There will be a varied program which will appeal to clinical trials researchers from all areas of sleep research, with trials in somnambulism and non-CPAP therapies for OSA already on the agenda.

Adelaide seminar on career development

JOINT ASTN/ASA RESEARCH COMMITTEE SYMPOSIUM: This year's Australasian Sleep Association Annual Meeting, to be held in Adelaide 2-4 October, will include a symposium jointly hosted by the ASTN and the ASA Research Committee.

The symposium, Opportunities and Challenges in Building a Research Career in Seep and Chronobiology Research, will interest early career researchers, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, specialist trainees, and others considering or developing a career in research, or a combined clinical and research career. Speakers Melinda Jackson (Institute for Breathing & Sleep, Austin Health, Melbourne), Doug McEvoy (Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, Repatriation General Hospital, Flinders University) and Naomi Rogers (Chronobiology & Sleep Group, Brain & Mind Research Institute, University of Sydney) will focus on starting out, combining clinical practice and research, and research careers in Australia and beyond.
